    Apple Walnut Cranberry Crumble

    Recipe Introduction

    Made 12/30/2009 for Gaz. He said it was "just right".NOTE: crumble recipe is enough for approximately 2 crumbles as made below. Keep frozen.

    List of Ingredients

    3 tablespoons butter
    4 Granny Smith apples,roughly cut up
    1/2 cup (or so) chopped walnuts
    1/2 cup (or so) dried cranberries
    splash Marsala (Port might work?)
    brown sugar 2 tablespoons-ish
    white sugar 1 tablespoon-ish
    cinnamon
    allspice
    ginger

    crumble topping (Nigella's)
    1 cup flour
    1 tsp baking powder
    pinch salt
    6 tablespoons (3/4 stick) butter, cold, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
    3 tablespoons light muscovado sugar (or light brown sugar)
    3 tablespoons vanilla or granulated sugar
    spices to taste (cinnamon, ginger, allspice)

    Mix flour, baking powder and salt. Add cold cubes of butter and rub into the flour until mixture resembles oatmeal. This recipe will mlake enough topping for about 2 crumbles. KEPP FROZEN.

    Recipe

    Cook above in butter for about 5 minutes. Spoon into baking dish (heart shaped ceramic). Cool in fridge. Add crumble topping (from freezer). Bake at 375F for 20-25 mins or until crumble topping is crisp and golden brown.
