Prune Cake

Recipe Introduction


I like to make this around Christmastime.





List of Ingredients



• 2 cups sugar
  
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
  
• 1 teaspoon salt
  
• 1teaspoon soda
  
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  
• 1 teaspoon allspice
  
• 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  
• 3 well beaten eggs
  
• 1 cup vegetable oil
  
• 1 cup buttermilk
  
• 1 cup prunes, cooked, cut in pieces
  
• ICING:
  
• 1/2 cup buttermilk
  
• 1 cup sugar
  
• 1 stick margarine
  
• 1/2 teaspoon soda
  
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
  






Instructions



1. Stir all cake ingredients together with a spoon. (Do not use electric mixer.)
   
   
2. Place ingredients in a 13x9 inch pan.
   
   
3. Bake in 350 degree oven for 50-60 minutes or toothpick comes out clean.
   
   
4. Then make icing and pour over cake while still hot. Holes may be made in cake to allow icing to run into the cake.
