Recipe Introduction
A very simple biscuit and the base for Cinnamon Rolls. Fresh hot and done in 10 to 15 minutes for both. Can you beat that. If you want to frost the rolls, let cool first or simply glaze when just warm.
List of Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 4 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 4 tbsp shortening [lard, butter, margarine, vegan margarine]
- 3/4 cup milk
- Cinnamon Rolls:
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- Nuts, optional
Instructions
- Sift flour, baking powder and salt together. Rub shortening in with finger tips. Add milk slowly and mix to a soft dough.
- Roll out on floured board to 1/2 inch thick. Cut with a biscuit cutter. If you don't have one, take a clean lid that came off an empty jar of the correct size for your biscuits [remember it raises with cooking] and cut with a very sharp paring knife. The Biscuit cutter is easier believe me but both work in a pinch.
- Bake in a quick oven [450F] for 10 to 15 minutes.
- 12 biscuits.
- Cinnamon Roll:
- Roll to 1/2 inch thick. Spread it with a mix of sugar and cinnamon [and nuts if desired]
- ROLL like a jelly roll [rolling up paper if you don't know how to make a jelly roll]
- Cut in 3/4 inch slices. Bake in a quick oven for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Eat up. Makes about 12.
