Baked Apples

- 6 apples
- 6 tbsp brown sugar
- Alternative fillings
- bananas
- marmalade
- jelly
- preserves
- honey and lemon juice
- hard cinnamon candy
- canned or fresh berries
- chopped oranges
- candied orange peel
- chopped pineapple
- chopped peaches
- marshmallows
- preserved ginger
- nuts
- Serve with
- dish liquor
- cream
- whipped cream
- marshmallow sauce
- meringue
Instructions
- Select smooth apples of uniform size. Wash and remove core.
- Fill center with 1 tbsp brown sugar. Put in baking dish and enough boiling water to cover bottom of dish.
- Bake 350F basting frequently with dish liquor until tender 20 to 40 minutes. Depends on size of apple.
- You can add a bit of cinnamon or lemon juice to the dish liquor if you want.
- Serves 6
