3 T. butter
1 an (27 oz.) sauerkraut, rinsed and drained
2/3 c. uncooked long grain rice
1 lg. onion, diced
2 lbs. ground beef
1 1/2 t. salt
pepper to taste
2 c. water
1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce
Recipe
In a skillet, melt butter. Layer with
sauerkraut, rice, onion and beef. Sprinkle
with salt and pepper. In a bowl, combine
water and tomato sauce; mix well. Pour over
beef mixture. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat;
cover and simmer for 50 min. or until meat
is browned and rice is tender (do not stir).
Makes 8 servings.
