List of Ingredients
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar packed
1/2 Cup Whipping Cream, heavy no substitutes
1/4 Cup Walnuts, chopped
11 Ounce Soft Breadsticks, refrigerated
1/3 Cup Applesauce, cinnamon flavored or apple butter
Recipe
Assembly Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a small bowl combine the brown sugar,
cream and chopped walnuts. Pour the mixture into an ungreased 8-inch
cake or pie pan. Unroll the breadstick dough, but do not separate
into individual bread sticks. Spread the applesauce or apple butter
over the dough. Roll the dough from one short end to the other.
Separate the dough at the perforations. Pinch the end of the coiled
dough to the roll to help keep it wound up during baking. Place the
coiled dough in the pan. Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes until
browned. Cool the rolls in the pan for one minute, then carefully
invert the roll pan onto a serving plate. Leave the inverted pan on
the serving plate for a minute to allow the caramel glaze to coat the
rolls.
Freezing Directions:
We don't recommend that you freeze this recipe unbaked, but it can be
assembled the night before they are needed, covered tightly in plastic
wrap, and baked just before serving.
The baked rolls can be frozen right in the pan, covered with foil or
sealed in a freezer bag. To serve, thaw the pan of rolls completely.
If they are frozen in a glass dish, allow the dish to come to room
temperature. Reheat at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes, then invert
the dish onto a serving plate as directed above.
Editor's notes:
Depending on the brand of breadsticks, you will have 8-10 rolls per
can.
