List of Ingredients
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons baking powder
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 cup granulated white sugar
3 cups cornmeal
1/2 cup vegetable shorteningRecipe
Sift flour then measure. Add salt, sugar and baking
powder to the flour and sift again. Add the cornmeal
unsifted. Cut shortening in to the mixture and place in
a tightly closed container. Store in a cool dry place.
When ready to use:
Remove to a mixing bowl:
2 cups mix
1 unbeaten egg
1 cup of milk
Beat well
Pour in to a greased pan and bake in at 400*F for 20
to 25 minutes.
Makes four 10x12 inch pans of cornbread
