    2-1/2 cups flour
    2 cups sugar
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1-1/3 cups buttermilk
    1/2 cup butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
    4 egg whites

    Recipe



    Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and 1/8 tsp. salt. Add buttermilk, softened butter and vanilla. Beat with an electric mixer on low speed for 30 seconds, scraping bowl. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Add egg whites and beat for 2 minutes more.

    Pour batter into 2 greased and floured 9" round cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Cool on wire racks for 10 minutes. Loosen sides and remove from pans. Cool thoroughly on wire racks.
