    These are good with scrambled eggs or omelets for breakfast or supper. They also may be used as appetizers if made small. GAudrey

    List of Ingredients




    1/2 pound bulk hot sausage
    2 cups baking mix (I like Bisquick)
    1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
    1 teaspoon Mrs, Dash Italian Medley seasoning
    1 egg, beaten
    1/3 cup buttermilk
    1 teaspoon hot sauce (I prefer Texas Pete), use more or less to suit your taste
    Butter flavored cooking spray, optional
    Additional Mrs. Dash, optional

    Recipe



    Cook and stir sausage until no pink remains. Drain thoroughly. Place in a bowl with the baking mix, cheese, and Mrs. Dash, and toss to coat the sausage and cheese. In a small bowl, combine the egg, milk, and hot sauce. Add to the dry mixture and stir to form a soft dough similar to mashed potatoes. Drop by heaping tablespoons onto a greased or sprayed baking sheet. I use a medium ice cream scoop for dropping. You also may pat out the dough into a circle and cut it in triangles to bake in the traditional way. NOTE: If desired, spray each scone with butter flavored cooking spray and sprinkle with additional Mrs. Dash.
    For appetizers, drop with a cookies scoop or heaping teaspoons.
