    Source of Recipe

Posting my cut-outs for the holidays. These have the absolute best flavor! Cut them thick to keep them soft. I like to make a ton of these and freeze the baked cookies, then thaw out what I need and ice them.

    Butter Cookie Cutouts—The best ever!!!

    2 cups butter
    1-1/2 cups sugar
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    5 cups flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    ½ tsp. salt

Cream butter. Add sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Blend in eggs and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Blend well. Divide dough into three disks and wrap with plastic wrap or waxed paper. Chill dough an hour or so until somewhat firm. Roll out dough to about 3/8" thick. Cut out shapes. Bake on ungreased parchment lined cookie sheet at 375º for 6-8 minutes or till edges barely start to look golden—do not over bake! Ice when cool. (Everyone who has tried these agrees they are the best!)

    Icing for Cutouts:

    4 cups confectioners’ sugar
    ½ cup butter
    3-4 Tbsp. milk
    2 tsp. vanilla
    Food coloring

Combine first four ingredients and beat till smooth and of spreading consistency. Add food coloring, blending well.
