List of Ingredients
1/2 Cup Shortening
1 Cup Sugar
1 Egg, slighty beaten
1/4 Cup Honey
1/4 Cup Milk
1/4 Cup Raisins
1 1/2 Cup Quaker old fashioned oats
1 3/4 Cup all purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 teaspoon Allspice
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon Salt
Recipe
Cream shortening and sugar, then add egg, honey and milk. Continue creaming until mixture is light and fluffy. Soak raisins in hot water for a few minutes, drain them well. Combine raisins with oats and add to creamed mixture. Sift flour with remaining dry ingrediants and add to shortening-oatmeal mixture. Mix everything until well blended. Drop on to a lightly greased cookie sheet (or sheet sprayed with pam cooking spray) three inches apart- about 1/4 cup per cookie (use #16 scoop if you have one). Flatten cookies slightly- to about 4 inch diameter. Bake on third shelf of 300 degree oven for about 12 to 15 minutes. Cookies will be a delicate brown and slightly soft in the center when done, they will be the shape of a saucer. Cool, just enough to set cookie, then loosen with a spatula and lift off.
Makes 12 saucers- each 4 1/2 inches in diameter.
