    Recipe Introduction

Posted by: September_Sue Posted on: 8/23/2004 8:03:07 AM #R4272056 For this one, I combined Cubbybear's To Die For Crockpot Roast seasoning and a bit of ad-libbing. I'm not a beef stew person but this one is unbelievable! I'm convinced the whole secret is the To Die For Crockpot seasonings.

    List of Ingredients

My Best-so-far Beef Stew Recipe (To die for beef stew)
    I double this

2 lbs stew beef (three hefty pkgs meat)
1 lb carrots, sliced (half of large bag, so still 1 lb)
lots of potatoes, chopped (about 6-8 smaller ones)
1 medium onion chopped (2 good sized)
1 envelope onion soup mix (Lipton)
1 envelope italian dressing mix (good seasons)
1 envelope ranch dressing mix (Hvr NOT buttermilk recipe)
1 envelope brown gravy mix (pioneer)
    1 can Pepsi (1 20 ox bottle)
1 can cream mushroom soup (2 cans)
Handful or so of frozen peas to scatter on top before serving.
I added about a cup or so of water before I added the gravy mixture.

Layer potatoes in bottom of crockpot, followed by carrots, onions and stew beef in that order. (I put meat in bottom)

In separate bowl, combine the seasoning mixes. Sprinkle over the beef. (Each layer) Pour the Pepsi over all and top with the cream mushroom soup. (for a double batch I mixed one pepsi, 20 oz. with the cans of mushroom soup and poured over whole thing)

Cook on low 8-10 hrs. **Cook on high some of the day** some of my potatoes were still too firm, but the crock was PACKED full!
