    2 DEEP DISH PIE CRUSTS
    7 OR 8 LARGE GRANNY SMITH APPLES
    TOPPING
    1-1/2 STICKS REAL BUTTER
    1/2 C. BROWN SUGAR
    1/2 C. SUGAR
    2 TBL. FLOUR
    1/4 C. COLD WATER

    PEEL AND SLICE ENOUGH APPLES TO
    GENEROUSLY FILL THE CRUST.

    MIX FLOUR AND WATER TOGETHER AND
    STIR TO GET OUT THE LUMPS

    MELT BUTTER IN SAUCEPAN, AND ADD
    THE SUGARS AND THE FLOUR/WATER MIX.

    COOK TILL IT COMES TO A SLOW BOIL.

    CUT THE SECOND CRUST INTO STRIPS AND
    LATTICE OVER THE PIE.

    POUR THE HOT CARAMEL MIXTURE OVER THE
    TOP OF PIE THROUGH THE LATTICE AND
    MAKE SURE TO GET IT ON THE CRUST.

    BAKE IN 450 OVEN FOR 15 MIN
    REDUCE HEAT TO 350 AND BAKE FOR 45 MIN.

    IF IT STARTS TO BROWN TOO QUICKLY,
    LOOSLY COVER WITH FOIL.


    THIS IS A WONDERFUL PIE,,,,,AND THE
    CARAMEL SEASONS IT PERFECTLY AND GIVES
    THE CRUST A HOMEMADE FLAVOR.
