    Sort of French Bread

    List of Ingredients




    2 pckgs. yeast
    1/2 C warm water
    5 t sugar
    1 1/2 T olive oil
    1 t salt
    1 3/4 C hot water.
    6 C flour
    1 egg, beaten
    3 T milk

    Recipe



    Mix 4 1/2 t sugar, olive oil, salt, and hot water. Pour over flour in electric mixer bowl. Add yeast and knead with dough hook til shiny and elastic. Let rise till doubled. Divide in half. Roll each half out to a 10 by 12 inch rectangle. Roll up starting at the wide edge. Place on greased baking sheets and make slashes diagonally across tops of loaves. Let rise again til double. Mix egg and milk together with a fork and brush loaves. Bake at 400 for 15 minutes or til golden brown.

    I have taken this to dinners at church and it was a real hit.
