Grandmomma's Date Nut Cake

List of Ingredients

1 3/4 cups sugar
4 1/4 cups flour
1 cup butter or margarine
1 1/4 cups buttermilk
1 box raisins
2 T cinnamon
2 T cloves
2 T allspice
4 eggs
1 T baking soda
1 1/2 lbs. nuts, chopped (I like pecans)
1 1/2 cups jam (I like redplum)
1 box dates, chopped


Recipe

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Stir in jam. Mix soda and and buttermilk and set aside. In another bowl, sift together flour and spices. Add to butter and egg mixture, alternating with buttermilk. Beat well. Stir in dates, raisins and nuts. Bake in greased tube pan at 275 until cake tests done.
