    Texas Chili

    List of Ingredients

    2 lb. ground beef (not too lean)
    2 large onions, chopped
    2 T chopped garlic
    3 T Gebhart's chili powder
    2 T ground cumin
    2 t dried oregano
    salt and pepper to taste
    2 cans beef broth
    2 cans diced tomatoes
    2 cans pinto beans
    2 T masa
    1/2 C warm water


    Recipe

    In Dutch oven, brown ground beef and onions til onions are soft. Add garlic and cook and stir for about 3 minutes. Add half of seasonings and cook and stir 2 minutes more. Stir in tomatoes, broth and beans. Bring to a boil and add rest of seasonings, checking for taste. Stir in masa mixed with water. Simmer for 1 hour.

    Serve in bowls over rice topped with grated cheddar cheese.
