6 tablespoons butter, room temperature
1/4 cup sugar
3 eggs
2 teaspoons almond extract
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 cups cherries, pitted

Cherry Almond Muffins
Preheat the oven to 375�F. Grease the muffin cups. In a large bowl, combine the butter and sugar. Cream with an electric mixer until light colored. Add the eggs one at a time and beat, until thick and light colored. Add the almond extract.
In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. With a electric mixer, add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alterning with the milk. Fold in the cherries. Spoon the batter into each muffin cup. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Let the muffins rest in the pan 5 minutes before turning out onto a rack to cool.
