HERMAN COOKIES
1 1/2 cups flour
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup shortening at room temperature
2 eggs
3/4 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup Herman starter
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Chocolate frosting

HERMAN COOKIES

In medium bowlmix flour, cocoa, baking powader, baking soda, and salt. Set aside. In large bowl mix well the sugar, shortening, eggs, vanilla and starter. Stir in flour mixture and nuts till well blended. Drop by teaspoonfuls 2 inches abart on greased cookie sheet. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 8-10 minutes till bottoms of cookies ande edges are lightly browned. Remove to racks to cool. Frost if desired
