    Chocolate/Cherry or Apple Cake


    Chocolate/Cherry Cake
    1 box Chocolate Cake Mix
    1 can Cherry Pie Filling - can use the 'lite' version 2 Eggs
    1 teaspoon Almond Extract

    OR - Apple Cake
    1 box Yellow Cake Mix
    1 can Apple Pie Filling
    2 Eggs
    1 teaspoon Cinnamon

    Chocolate, Cherry or Apple Cake

    Mix all together and put in greased 9x13" pan. Bake 350 degrees for about 30 minutes.

    You add no liquid or oil to the recipes. The cakes are moist and delicious. On the chocolate cake, mix by hand so the cherries stay whole. On the apple cake, chop up the apples a little bit with a long knife while they're still in the can.

    If you want a few more calories, place a paper doily over the apple cake and sprinkle confectioners sugar to make a pretty topping. On the cherry cake, sprinkle chocolate chips over the cake while it is still warm. As they begin melting, use the back of a spoon and swirl them around until the cake is 'frosted'.

    This is a good cake for when you have 'Goodie Day' at work and have forgotten to prepare it the night before. Just stick it in the oven for half an hour while you get dressed for work.
