    German Chocolate Pound Cake

    1-4 oz. bar German chocolate
    1 cup shortening
    2 cups sugar
    4 eggs
    2 tsp. vanilla
    2 tsp. butter flavor
    1 cup buttermilk
    3 cups flour
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. salt

    Melt and cool the chocolate. Set aside. Combine shortening and sugar. Add eggs, vanilla, and buttermilk. Sift together dry ingredients and add to shortening mixture. Mix well. Stir in melted chocolate. Pour into prepared tube pan. Bake 1-1/2 hours at 300 degrees.
    Remove from pan and place into covered Tupperware cake carrier until thoroughly cooled.
