APPLE DUMPLINGS
Blend together;
3 cups flour
3 heaping tsp. shortening
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt.
Add enough milk to make a soft dough. Roll out dough into a 12" square, 1/2 at a time. Cut square into 4 equal pieces. In each square, place 1/4 to 1/2 of an apple, sliced. Top with some sugar, dash of cinnamon and a dot of butter. Fold up corners and seal. Place dumplings in a 9x13" greased pan, with sealed side down. Pour syrup over dumplings. Bake at 350º F. until browned, basting occasionaly.
Syrup:
Heat together 2 cups sugar, 1/2 cup oleo, 2 cups water and 1 tsp. cinnamon. Heat until oleo is melted.
