    Onion Pie

    Source of Recipe

My Great Grandmother and Great Aunt's recipe

    Recipe Introduction

This recipe was my Great Grandmother, Christina Missurelli and Great Aunt Filomena Colamaria. It was always a favorite at our family reunions.

    List of Ingredients

    Crust:
    1 tsp. salt
    (3) 1/2 cups tepid water
    1 lb. flour
    1/2 cup olive oil
    1/2 cup dry white wine

I have used a refrigerated pie crust instead, oiling the pan
also made the recipe in half and it was fine.

    Filling:
    3 lbs. onions chopped
    8 oz. green olives, sliced
    1 can anchovies cut up
    pepper to taste

    Recipe

Make well on board with flour and salt. Add wine and oil. Mix and add water as needed to make dough pliable. Knead and roll out to thin pie crusts (2). Add oil to bottom of 10 x 12 pan. Place crust in pan, add onion mixture, cover with second crust, seal edges and bake in 400 degrees oven for 1 hour or until crust is evenly browned.

Sauté onions in olive oil. Add olives and anchovies after onions have cooled. This can be done day before.
