    Doughnuts by Grandma Thea

    List of Ingredients

    2 eggs
    1 cup sugar
    2 Tbsp soft shortening
    3/4 cup milk
    1 tsp vanilla
    3 1/2 cups flour
    4 1/2 tsp baking powder
    1 tsp soda
    1 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp nutmeg
    1/4 tsp cinnamon

    Recipe

    Put eggs, sugar, and shortening into large bowl. Beat until well blended. Add vanilla and milk. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, and spices. Add 2 cups of this flour mixture in egg mixture. Beat until blended, scraping bowl while beating. Stir in remaining flour mixture. Chill dough for 2 hours. Roll out on floured board to 1/3" thick. Keep dough not being used chilled. Cut into doughnuts. Use metal pancake turner to slide doughnut into preheated shortening at 375. Fry for 2 1/2 minutes or until brown. Turn and brown other side.
