Maple Sausage Apple Braid

List of Ingredients
- 1 roll Jimmy Dean Sausage
- 1/4 c maple syrup
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup sliced green onions
- 1 1/2 cup dry seasoned stuffing cubes
- 2 large apples, peeled and diced
- 1 package puff pastry sheets
- 2 egg whites and 1 TBLS water, mixed
- 4 tsp. sesame seeds
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the uncooked sausage. syrup, eggs, onions, stuffing and apples; mix well.
- Roll out each pastry sheet to a 16 x12 inch rectangle.
- Divide sausage mixture between the 2 sheets.
- Spread mixture down the center of each sheet.
- Brush edges of pastry with egg white and water mixture.
- Fold 1 inch of pastry at the top and bottom to enclose ends of filling.
- Make 3 inch long cuts in the pastry at 1 inch intervals on both sides of filling.
- Fold strips over filling, alternating sides for braid effect.
- Brush top with egg white mixture.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
- Place on greased baking sheets.
- Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
