Chocolate Shortcakes

List of Ingredients
- 1 2/3 cups flour
- 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa
- 1 TBLS baking powder
- 3/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1/3 cup butter, cut up
- 1 tsp almond extract
- 2/3 cups buttermilk
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- fruit (i.e. strawberries)
- whipped cream
Instructions
- In a food processor, combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- Add butter and pulse until crumbly.
- Add almond extract and buttermilk.
- Pulse until dough is moistened.
- Add morsels and pulse a few times to combine.
- Drop by heaping TBLS onto ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake at 425 degrees for 12 to 14 minutes or until tops are set and dry.
- Transfer to wire racks to cool.
- Serve with fruit and whipped cream.
