    List of Ingredients




    1 lb. dried pinto beans
    5 cups water
    1 large onion, chopped
    2 large jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped
    1 (1.4 oz.) envelope taco seasoning mix
    1/2 tsp salt
    1 TBSP sugar
    1 tsp ground cumin
    1 TBSP chili powder
    2 (14 1/2 oz.) cans Mexican style stewed tomatoes
    2 lb. ground chuck

    Recipe



    Place beans in a Dutch oven. Cover with water 2 inches over top of beans. Bring to a boil. Boil 2 minutes, remove from heat and let stand for 1 hour. Drain. Bring the beans, 5 cups hot water, and all other ingredients except the ground chuck to a boil, then add ground chuck, crumbling it while adding and stirring. Cover, reduce heat and simmer 30 minutes or until beans are tender. Makes 10 cups.
