Amaretto Bread Pudding

1 loaf French bread
1 quart Half & Half
2 Tbsp. butter
3 eggs
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 Tbsp. almond extract
3/4 c sliced almonds Recipe
Break the bread into small pieces and place in a medium bowl. Cover with the half-and-half cover the bowl and let stand for 1 hour
Grease a 9" x 13" baking dish with butter. In a small bowl beat together the eggs, sugar, and almond extract. Stir the mixture into the bread and milk.
Gently fold in the almonds. Spread the mixture evenly in the dish. Bake in a 325ºF oven for 50 minutes until golden.
Cut the pudding into squares and place on a decorative ovenproof serving dish. Spoon the Amaretto sauce over the pudding and place under the broiler until the sauce bubbles.
Serves 6 - 12
