    ½ cup sugar
    1/3 cup cornstarch
    3 cups skim milk
    2 large egg yolks, slightly beaten
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    1 (16 oz) angel food cake, cut into ½ inch slices
    ½ cup sherry
    1 pound strawberries, stemmed and sliced
    2 bananas, peeled and sliced
    1 pint blueberries
    2 kiwis, peeled and sliced
    1 (12 oz) container light frozen whipped topping, thawed

    Recipe



    1. In a 2-quart saucepan, stir together the sugar and cornstarch. Gradually add the milk, stirring until smooth. Stir in the beaten egg yolks. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture comes to a boil. Boil for 2 minutes and remove from the heat. Stir in the vanilla. Transfer to a bowl, cover with wax paper, and refrigerate until chilled, about 30 minutes.

    2. Arrange half of the angel food cake slices in a single layer in a trifle dish or a deep glass bowl. Sprinkle with ¼ cup of the sherry.

    3. Layer with half of the fruit, half of the custard, and half of the whipped topping. Repeat layering with the remaining ingredients, beginning with the angel food cake and sherry again and ending with the whipped topping. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
