1 quart plus 2 cups water
6 whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick
1/4 tsp. allspice
2 Tbs. lemon juice
2 tsp. loose black tea
1 Tbs. plus 1 tsp. sugar, or to taste
Recipe
Combine water, cloves, cinnamon, and allspice in a heavy non-reactive saucepan over medium-high heat. Simmer for 10 minutes. Add lemon juice and tea leaves. Remove from heat. Steep 3-4 minutes. Strain tea into cups to serve. Sweeten to taste with sugar.
