    Amish Stuffing/Dressing

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 pound and 4 ounces of bread, broken up the night before and let set out in a bowl covered with a towel
    • 4 eggs, beaten
    • 2 cups turkey or chicken, cut up
    • 5 cups chicken broth
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
    • 2 tablespoons pepper
    • 2 cups chopped celery
    • 1 cup chopped sweet onion
    • 3/4 cup real butter
    • I have also added the following to my dressing recipe:
    • 1 cup dried cranberries
    • 1 pound browned sage sausage
    • 2 large pieces of cornbread


    Instructions


    1. Mix all together in a large bowl. Melt the butter in a skillet and let it get very brown. Pour over dressing and quickly stir all through the dressing. Pour into a large baking pan 16x11x2 1/2 inch deep. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Increase heat to 425 degrees and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the top is very browned and the edges are crispy.
    2. This is very juicy and delicious, not dried out.
