Biscuits: Buttermilk Biscuits

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
- 1 cup buttermilk
Instructions
- Mix together flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder.
- Cut shortening into mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Make a depression in the center of the flour and add the buttermilk, mixing just till well blended.
- Place on a floured surface and knead lightly.
- Cut dough with a biscuit cutter and place biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake at 450° for 8 to 12 minutes or until golden.
