    Biscuits: Buttermilk Biscuits

    List of Ingredients


    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1 tablespoon baking powder
    • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
    • 1 cup buttermilk


    Instructions


    1. Mix together flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder.

    2. Cut shortening into mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

    3. Make a depression in the center of the flour and add the buttermilk, mixing just till well blended.

    4. Place on a floured surface and knead lightly.

    5. Cut dough with a biscuit cutter and place biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet.

    6. Bake at 450° for 8 to 12 minutes or until golden.
