    Eggs: Christmas Morn Wifesaver

    List of Ingredients


    • 16 slices of bread
    • 8 slices of cheddar cheese
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
    • 3 cups milk
    • 1 dash hot pepper sauce
    • Corn flakes
    • 8 slices of ham of bacon
    • 6 eggs
    • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
    • 1/4 cup green bell pepper, minced
    • 2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
    • 1/2 cup butter
    • 1/4 cup onion, minced


    Instructions


    1. Cut crusts from bread and lay 8 slices in a greased 13x9" baking dish.

    2. Cover bread with thinly sliced ham or back bacon.

    3. Lay cheese on top of ham or bacon.

    4. Cover with 8 slices of trimmed bread remaining, plus as much extra needed to cover completely.

    5. In a bowl, beat eggs, salt and pepper.

    6. To egg mixture, add dry mustard, onion, peppers, worcestershire sauce, milk and hot sauce.

    7. Pour over bread in pan.

    8. Cover and let stand in refrigerator overnight.

    9. In the morning, melt butter and pour over mixture in pan.

    10. Cover with crushed cereal.

    11. Bake, uncovered 1 hour.

    12. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

    13. Yield: 8 servings
