- 5 slices of white bread, cubed
- 1/2 pound grated cheese
- 1/2 pound cooked ham, sausage, bacon or little smokies, crumbled or cubed
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon sage
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/4 cup melted butter
Instructions
- Put bread slices in bottom of a buttered 13x9" oblong pan, sprinkle with cheese and add meat.
- In a medium bowl, beat eggs; add milk and spices to eggs. Pour egg mixture over meat and bread. Drizzle melted butter over all. Refrigerate overnight or longer.
- When ready to bake, cover loosely with foil and bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour or until eggs are set.
- Note: Feel free to leave out the dry mustard and put in more than 1/2 pound meat.
