Doughnuts: Drop Doughnuts

- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 cups flour, sifted
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, optional
Instructions
- Combine butter, sugar, egg yolks and 1/4 cup of the milk. Beat 1 minute on medium speed with electric mixer. Add remaining milk and vanilla.
- Sift flour, baking powder and salt together. Add 1/2 to the first mixture. Beat 1 minute; add the remaining flour. Mix well.
- Drop small amounts from the end of a teaspoon into deep fat that has been heated to 370 degrees. Cook 2 to 3 minutes on each side (you may use a doughnut maker). Drain on paper towels and roll in sugar.
