- 1 pound pork sausage
- 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 1/3 cups cold milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
- Cook sausage in butter, in a large skillet over medium heat, stirring until it crumbles and is no longer pink.
- Whisk flour into hot meat and drippings until smooth; cook, whisking constantly, 1 minute.
- Whisk in cold milk and cook, whisking constantly, 5 to 7 minutes or until thickened.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Yield: 2 cups
