Waffles: Strawberry Topped Waffles

- 2 pints fresh strawberries
- 5 tablespoons sugar, divided
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups (16 ounces sour cream
- 1 cup milk
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Whipped topping
- Additional strawberries, optional
Instructions
- Place strawberries and 3 tablespoons of sugar in a food processor or blender. Cover and process until coarsely chopped; set aside. In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and remaining sugar. Combine the eggs, sour cream, milk and oil; stir into dry ingredients just until combined. Pre-heat waffle iron. Fill and bake according to manufacturer's directions. Serve with strawberry topping, whipped topping and additional strawberries if desired.
- Yields 6 to 8 waffles
