    Waffles: Waffle House Waffles

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 1/2 cups flour
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1 egg
    • 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar
    • 2 tablespoons soft butter
    • 2 tablespoons shortening
    • 1/2 cup half and half
    • 1/2 cup milk
    • 1/4 cup buttermilk
    • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla


    Instructions


    1. The day before you are going to make the waffles. Combine flour, salt and baking soda in a medium bowl. Stir well to combine.

    2. Lightly beat the egg in another medium bowl. Add the sugar, butter and shortening and beat with an electric mixer until smooth.

    3. Add the half and half, milk, buttermilk and vanilla. Beating until well blended. Add the dry flour mixture to the wet mixture while beating until smooth. Pour into a bowl, cover and chill overnight.

    4. When ready to make waffles the day of. Start heating up the waffle iron. While it is heating up. Take the batter out of the refrigerator to warm up a bit (or you can take it out 15 to 20 minutes before you heat up the waffle iron).

    5. Spray the waffle iron with a vegetable spray, coating well. Spoon 1/3 to 1/2 cup of the batter into the waffle iron and cook for 3 to 4 minutes or until the waffle is lightly brown.

    6. Yield: 6 waffles
