Apple Brownies

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon, or more to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 eggs, slightly beaten
- 4 to 4 1/2 cups pared, diced apples
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan. Sift flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt into a large bowl. Add butter and eggs. Beat by hand until just combined and thick. Fold in apples and nuts. Spread in prepared pan. Bake for 1 hour or until top springs back to the touch.
