    Buttermilk Brownies

    List of Ingredients


    • 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate
    • 1/2 cup butter
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 1/2 cups sugar
    • 1/2 cup buttermilk
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla
    • 3/4 cup flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
    • Powdered sugar


    Instructions


    1. In a saucepan, melt chocolate squares and butter and set aside to cool.
    2. Combine eggs, sugar, buttermilk and vanilla and stir.
    3. Add cooled chocolate and butter and stir.
    4. Sprinkle in flour, baking powder and salt and mix well.
    5. Fold in chopped walnuts.
    6. Pour into a greased 13x9" baking pan and bake for 35 to 40 minutes at 350.
    7. Allow brownies to cool and then sprinkle with powdered sugar.


    Final Comments


    The Skinny: Use your favorite egg and sugar substitute. You should not substitute for the buttermilk because it will change the flavor and texture of the brownies.
