Cynthia's Peanut Butter Brownies

- 1 cup sifted flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 (16 ounce) can chocolate syrup
- 1 1/4 cups peanut butter
- 2 squares semi sweet chocolate
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Grease a 9x13x2" baking pan.
- Sift together flour and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream 1/2 stick butter and sugar.
- Add eggs and mix until light and fluffy. Stir in vanilla.
- Stir in flour mixture and stir until combined.
- Add chocolate syrup and stir until no streaks remain.
- Pour into prepared pan and bake 25 to 30 minutes or until center springs back when touched.
- Cool completely in pan.
- While brownies cool, mix peanut butter with 1 tablespoon melted butter. Spread over brownies.
- Melt chocolate squares with remaining 1 1/2 tablespoons butter in a small bowl over hot, not boiling water.
- Drizzle chocolate across peanut butter creating lines 1" apart.
- Draw toothpick across the lines to create decrative pattern.
- Refrigerate before cutting into bars.
- Makes 30 to 36 brownies
Final Comments
This is a very moist and soft brownie.
