    Pie: Buttermilk Chess Pie

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 unbaked 9 inch pie crust (homemade or purchased)
    • 3 eggs
    • 1 1/2 cups sugar
    • 3 tablespoons melted butter
    • 1 tablespoon plain white cornmeal
    • 1/3 cup buttermilk
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Prepare pie crust and place in pie pan.

    2. In bowl, beat eggs with wire whisk. Add sugar, melted butter, cornmeal, buttermilk, salt and vanilla. Mix ingredients well and pour into unbaked pie shell.

    3. Bake in preheated oven on bottom rack for 15 minutes, then reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake 20 minutes more.
