Fried Pies: Tammy's Fried Chocolate Pies
Source of Recipe
Internet
List of Ingredients
- Dough:
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Several cups of flour, to desired thickness for rolling
- Filling:
- 2 heaping tablespoons flour
- 2 heaping tablespoons cocoa
- 6 tablespoons sugar
- Milk, enough to make into a thick paste
Instructions
- Roll out the dough in about 6 inch circles about 1/8" thick (tortilla size). Place about 1 tablespoon of filling in the crust. Dampen edges of crust with milk or water, fold in half, pinch it closed with a fork. Fry in hot oil in a skillet, until light brown.
- Sift powered suger or cocoa over still warm pies. Or melt some milk chocolate and drizzle it over the cooled pies.
- Tips: You can use a purchased pie crust dough, instead of making it from scratch. This is one of those pinch of this, pinch ofthat, seat of your pants recipes. Do whateverworks. Nice recipe as it takes stuff that is generallyon hand. Can use evaporated or powdered milk, or probably in a pinch, reconstituted coffee creamer if you are out of milk.
