- 3/4 cup shortening
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 1/4 cups sifted cake flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 cup milk
- 5 stiffly beaten egg whites
Instructions
- Cream shortening and sugar until light. Add vanilla and mix well. Sift together flour, baking powder and 1 teaspoon salt. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating after each addition. Fold in egg whites.
- Bake in 2 greased and floured 9 1 1/2 inch round pans at 375 degrees for 18 to 20 minutes. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans. Cool completely and frost.
