    Beans: Boston Baked Beans

    • 1 pound navy beans, dried
    • 2 onions, chopped
    • 1/2 cup brown sugar
    • 1/4 cup molasses
    • 1/3 cup ketchup
    • 1/4 pound bacon, diced
    • 1 tablespoon salt
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons dry mustard
    • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper


    Instructions


    1. Soak beans in water overnight. Drain and place all ingredients in crockpot. Cover and cook on low 10 to 12 hours.

    2. You can also spice it up with a few cloves of garlic, 1/2 teaspoon powdered ginger and a good dash of worcestershire sauce. As an option stir in 1 cup drained pineapple chunks during the last hour of cooking for a delicous fruity flavor.

    3. Makes 8 servings.
