- 4 eggs
- 1 quart milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Nutmeg
Instructions
- Beat 4 eggs slightly, omitting the whites of 2. Mix them gradually with 1 quart of milk and 1 cup sugar mixed with 1 teaspoon cornstarch. Boil in double boiler. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Stir continually. As soon as it comes to the boiling point, remove it or it will curdle and become lumpy. Whip the whites of the 2 eggs, adding 4 tablespoons of sugar. Beat until stiff and dry. When custard is cold, heap this on top. Sprinkle with nutmeg if desired.
