Strawberry Steamed Pudding

• Cake
  
• 1 egg yolk
  
• 2 tablespoons sugar
  
• 2/3 cup milk
  
• 1 1/2 cups flour
  
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
  
• Sauce
  
• 1 egg white
  
• 1/4 cup butter
  
• 1 cup sugar
  
• 1 large cup mashed strawberries
  






Instructions



1. For the cake, beat together the egg yolk and sugar. Add the milk then the flour and baking powder. Mix well and pour into a greased 1 pound coffee can. Cover with aluminum foil tied to the can or secure with a rubber band. Steam on rack over boiling water in a kettle for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
   
2. For sauce, cream butter and sugar. Beat the egg white and add to the creamed mixture. Mix in strawberries. Serve sauce over hot cake.
