Butterscotch Apples

- 5 apples
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
- Pare and quarter apples.
- Place sugar and water in a saucepan; bring to a boil.
- Add the apples and cook until tender.
- Remove apples with a slotted spoon.
- Place in sherbet glasses.
- Mix cornstarch milk; add to syrup and boil a few minutes.
- Add butter, salt and vanilla.
- Pour over apples.
- Serve hot or cold.
- Serves 4
