Fried Apples

- 6 tart apples, cored and sliced, keep skin on
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/4 cup bacon drippings
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/8 teaspiin salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon, or to flavor
- Pinch of nutmeg, optional
Instructions
- In a large skillet, melt bacon drippings. Place apples evenly over skillet. Sprinkle lemon juice over apples, then brown sugar and salt. Cover and cook over low heat for approximately 15 minutes or until apples are tender and juicy. Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg and stir to blend.
- Serve over pancakes and waffles with whipped cream or as a side dish for breakfast or brunch.
