    Caramel Buttercream Frosting

    • 50 caramels, unwrapped
    • 1/2 cup milk
    • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 5 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted
    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract


    Instructions


    1. In a medium saucepan, melt caramels over medium heat, stirring occasionally, 15 minutes.
    2. Whisk in milk until smooth.
    3. Remove from heat; let cool to room temperature, about an hour.
    4. In a large bowl, beat butter, sugar and vanilla until blended.
    5. On medium high speed, beat 3 minutes.
    6. Beat in caramel mixture and beat 2 minutes more, until light and fluffy.
