    Beef: Easy Swiss Steak

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 1/2 pounds beef top round steak (1/2 inch thick), cut into serving size pieces
    • 2 cups sliced onions
    • 1 (4 1/2 ounce) jar whole mushrooms, drained
    • 1 (10 3/4 ounce) can condensed beef broth
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
    • 1/4 cup water
    • 2 tablespoons cornstarch


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. In a large oven proof skillet, dutch oven or baking dish, mix all ingredients except water and cornstarch; stir well. Cover and bake at 325 degrees for 2 1/2 to 3 hours or until beef is tender.

    2. In a small bowl, combine water and cornstarch; stir into beef mixture. Bake an additional 15 minutes or until gravy has thickened.

    3. Per serving: Calories: 180, Fat: 4 g, Saturated Fat: 1 g, Cholesterol: 60 mg, Sodium: 440 mg, Carbohydrates: 8 g, Fib: 1 g, Protein: 27 g
